Coffered Ceiling Installation

Where It Works Best

• Lobbies and reception areas
• Board and conference rooms
• Restaurants and hospitality spaces
• Dining rooms, living rooms and home offices
• Historic renovations

Ways to Build a Coffered Ceiling

• Built-in coffers framed and finished on site
• Lay-in coffered tiles that drop into a standard grid for the look at a lower cost
• Wood or painted finishes to match trim and millwork
• Acoustic infill panels inside the coffers to control sound

Planning the Layout

A coffered ceiling looks best when the coffers are sized to the room and centered on it, with the beams lining up with walls, windows and lighting. Deeper coffers need more ceiling height, so in rooms with lower ceilings, shallow coffers or lay-in coffered tiles keep the look without making the room feel low. We plan lighting inside or between the coffers at the same time.
