Where It Works Best

  • Commercial offices
  • Industrial and warehouse offices
  • Schools and public buildings
  • Retail and service businesses

Grid Options

  • 15/16-inch standard grid for most commercial rooms
  • 9/16-inch narrow grid for a slimmer, more finished look
  • Galvanized or aluminum grid for humid and coastal buildings
  • Heavier-duty grid where lights and equipment add weight

Grid and Tile Sizes

Most T-bar ceilings use a 2x2 or 2x4 module. Main runners hang from the structure on wire, typically every 4 feet, and cross tees lock between them to form the grid. Tiles lay into the openings with square edges that sit flush on the grid or tegular edges that drop slightly below it for a more finished look. Light fixtures and air diffusers sized to the same module drop right in.

FAQ

T-bar Acoustic Ceilings FAQs

What does T-bar mean in a ceiling?

T-bar refers to the upside-down T shape of the metal grid members. The flat bottom flange holds the edges of the ceiling tiles, and the grid hangs from the structure above on hanger wire.

Will a standard ceiling grid rust near the coast?

It can. Standard painted steel grid can rust in salt air, especially in bayfront and island buildings and in rooms that stay damp. Near the water we use hot-dipped galvanized grid, grid with aluminum caps or all-aluminum systems, depending on how exposed the building is. More on corrosion-resistant T-bar grid.
